This deprecated, presentational element is not recommended. Authors should generally find an alternative way to accomplish the same task while adhering to all best practices, or simply do without it if it is unimportant.

The HTML <strike></strike> element has been deprecated since HTML 4 in favor of the CSS text-decoration:line-through;. It is used to create a strike through text. It is now obsolete in HTML5. If it represents deleted content, use the <del> instead; in all other cases use the CSS text-decoration property. This element is synonymous to the <s> element, which produces the same result.
